The (Old) Music Of Soarin’

Soarin’ is closed for refurbishment. Although not yet confirmed, the music that has been featured in the ride will no longer be used. For those of us who have had the luxury of purchasing a copy of the official albums of either Disneyland of Walt Disney World will be able to hold on to this unforgettable theme by renowned composer Jerry Goldsmith.

For us, Disney’s past is one to remember. To commemorate one of the best rides in the Disney Parks, I assembled a custom album that contains all of the music used in the ride. In case you haven’t noticed, there is a significant amount of music played throughout the waiting line. All of this music is from popular films which, ironically, are centered around some kind of flight or science fiction. Some of the films include Contact, Apollo 13, Always, A Beautiful Mind, and even Air Force One which was composed by the legendary Jerry Goldsmith.

The sweeping melodies finally conclude in the finale: Soarin’. Jerry Goldsmith also scored this wonderful piece before passing away. He was one of the first to experience the attraction before its official opening to the public. Despite lacking any score during the ride, Jerry Goldsmith stepped off the ride in tears because he loved it so much, and it brought back memories from childhood. It somewhat alarmed the cast members who’s first thought was that something was really wrong!

I have made the music available for download to anyone can claim it before the end of this year. If you would prefer, I have assembled a playlist of the music on 8-Tracks for all to hear. Enjoy!
